It is hard to figure out why they do these things or how they get away with it. To me they seem to be schizophrenic. At times they seem to be teaching two different things at once. They have a long history of flip-flopping yet most witnesses just go along with what is in the latest Watchtower. Once in a while someone will freakout and run for the door but most witnesses are conditioned not to question anything they are taught.

Witness love to take Jeremiah 10 out of context also and try to use it to prove Christmas Trees are mentioned in the Bible as wrong to have one but reading the verse in context it becomes obvious that it is refering to making an idol.
I say enjoy Christmas without trying to analyze everything. Remember what the first for letters of analyze are.

we are fast approaching the year 2014 which will be 100 years since 1914. what are jw's and the wt going to do if armaggeddon has not occurred by then?
will they come up with a bunch of "new light" to do away with 1914 all together?
will they suddenly announce that jesus came into kingdom power in the year 2014?
Have they put 2014 in writing as the new date for the big A?
I would think those who put their hopes in 1975 would be pretty upset that it has been move up to 2014. If they have stuck it out this long and stick it out to 2014 they are probably the type that just accept and go along with whatever the WT tells them.

i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.
the one who i've described my fears that she and my younger sister are staying single until armageddon.

jehovah's witnesses, too, have shown a decline in membership.
I wonder if it may be more of a swing than a decline like what is going on here in california. The non-denominational churches such as Calvary Chapel and The Vinyard (mega churches) seem to be expanding. Also I think the Catholics are doing ok here. One of my neighbors is a Methodist and she told me the old ones at her church are dying out and they aren't attracting any new members yet other churches around here are growing. The ones that seem to be doing better are ones that have a lot for people to do particularly things for young people to do. Everytime I have seen one of these articles they never mention the churches that are growing and there are a lot of them in my area.

According to the info Blondie posted MacMillan probably got his info from Freddie who thought it was so long ago no one would find out he was lying. I wonder if there was ever a crossroads for Freddie where he came to realize he had wasted life in a fantasy land he had helped create and wished he could go back continue his education and do something useful with his life. At that point he probably thought he had no other prospects and he was to far into the life he had chosen to quite so he decided to stay where he was and continue making things up. He may have even fooled himself into believing it was "the truth" in time.
